Rotating Locum GPs cover on short term and long term placements at our Ouyen and Sea Lake Medical Clinics. To see the latest GP schedule please check the calendar below.
A practice nurse is a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse who is employed by a general practice. MTHCS has practice nurses at our Ouyen and Sea Lake Medical Clinics to assist with the workload at our clinics.
A standard appointment is 15 minutes, however longer appointments are available if required. Please ask if you require a longer appointment. A range of procedures are performed in the clinic including Chronic Disease Management, Vic Roads medicals and Centrelink medicals, ECG’s, spirometry, vaccinations, cryotherapy and minor surgery.
New patients are required to complete a “Transfer of Medical History” release form which is sent to their previous GP or Specialist clinic. Important information regarding medications and past history is then received and added to patient records. A copy of our privacy policy is situated in the Patient Information Folder, usually in the waiting area but due to Covid, is available from reception on request.
Our medical services model operates with visiting locum GPs and Practice Nurses to provide continual coverage for the region. The health service provides management of both Ouyen and Sea Lake clinics as part of planning to ensure the stability of local medical clinics.
MTHCS collaborates with Mallee Border Health to provide primary healthcare and medical services in Underbool and Murrayville. The current arrangement
with Mallee Border Health has been in place since October 2017 and has provided residents in these communities access to nurse practitioner services.
Fees are subject to length of appointment and Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS) changes. Fees can be advised on appointment. Private patients are charged on the day with medicare refunding immediately through medicare on-line. Health Care Card holders are charged a reduced gap fee and refunded on the same day. Pension Concession Card and DVA Gold Card holders are bulk billed.
Nurse practitioner services are highly valued by the communities in Murrayville and Underbool, particularly considering the limited access to GPs, experienced more acutely in rural areas. However, nurse practitioners are unable to claim certain items under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) meaning that consumers accessing these services incur out-of-pocket costs or need to wait for GP availability.
To book an appointment with a general practitioner or nurse, call the medical clinics directly.
