MTHCS has over 120 fantastic and dedicated volunteers who offer a range of support services to eligible members of the community right along the Mallee Track. Our volunteer program aims to match the interests, skills and availability of the volunteers to a role that is meaningful and rewarding.
As a volunteer with MTHCS you can share interests, conversation, companionship and social engagement. Volunteers are a part of an incredible team of people with a strong commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. Volunteering is a great way to meet people, stay connected, give back and be a valued part of our community.
Volunteer roles within Mallee Track include:
Volunteers are highly valued members of the service and as such will be provided with support and training relevant to the role. All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application, Police check and a series of documents to support the role prior to commencement. The Volunteer Coordinator will provide support during these steps.
We welcome new volunteers to join our team. If you have a few hours to spare each month and would like to join our volunteers team, call the Ouyen Service Centre on 03 5092 1111 and speak to the Volunteer Coordinator.
The Volunteer Coordinator will maintain contact with volunteers and encourage them to report back if they have any concerns or issues either about the role or issues of health safety and wellbeing.
All volunteers will have an orientation at commencement. The appropriate orientation will be completed by the Volunteer Coordinator and/or the program leader to ensure the volunteer understands the role they will be fulfilling and the relevant health and safety aspects. An orientation checklist has been developed – this should be completed and signed at orientation.
The Volunteer Coordinator will maintain regular contact with the volunteer to ensure they are well supported and any issues that may arise are addressed promptly. The coordinator will also ensure the client is matched to the correct role, if there are issues then alternative roles may be found for the volunteer. The volunteer support & evaluation form may be used to evaluate volunteer’s satisfaction with their role and to get feedback about the process.
Program coordinators may utilise the ‘program coordinators volunteer evaluation’ to feedback a volunteer progress, skills, abilities or issues to the volunteer coordinator.
