MTHCS works in partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Robinvale District Health Service to provide local speech therapy services for children 0-12 in Ouyen, Sea Lake, Underbool and Murrayville.
Language delays during early childhood can have long term impacts on children’s literacy, mental health and social opportunities which is why providing speech therapy for local families is a priority for the health service.
We were delighted to partner with the RFDS and RDHS in 2018 to launch a new Speech Therapy program. The service is for children up to 12.
Families no longer have to travel long distances to major regional centres to get the support they need. Instead, they can have an initial appointment with a speech pathologist, who conducts an assessment, and then take part in an ongoing treatment plan.
Allied Health Assistants at MTHCS support clients to achieve their speech and language goals with oversight via both face-to-face and the secure Telehealth service.
MTHCS receives funding from a number of different sources to provide services. To find out if you're eligible for a subsidised service visit the Service Access page.
