Upgrades in Ouyen Complete
FRESH new upgrades to the Mallee Track Health and Community Service (MTHCS) Ouyen campus are in the final stages of completion.
The work included replacing carpet in the main hallways, safely removing asbestos, removal of old tiles, prepping the space and installing new carpet and fresh paint.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Tracey Wilson said planning for the upgrades had started pre-COVID.
“We’re absolutely thrilled with the work that has been done, and so pleased it’s now complete and residents, patients and visitors are enjoying the fresh new surrounds,” she said.
“First on the list of upgrades was replacing the old carpet, which was laid more than 25 years ago and glued to the tiles already in place on the floor of the hospital.
“The surfaces were found to contain asbestos, so we brought in a specialist asbestos removal team AAH Contracting from Melbourne to safely complete the job.”
Ms Wilson said the completion of the upgrades were a “collaborative effort” of both local and city-based businesses and organisations.
She said the contractors and staff had coordinated working together over a weekend in order to minimise disruption to MTHCS daily operations.
“A huge thank you has to go to the businesses and the people that made this possible for us, because it was not an easy task – in particular our maintenance team leader Riley O’Connor, AAH Contracting, Choices Flooring Mildura, and Sunraysia Painting Services. Their professionalism and cooperation made the process seamless,” Ms Wilson said.
“The painting work is continuing to finalise the process, but we’d like to extend a big thank you to the community for their patience - we can’t wait to show off our new look.”
