Upgrades in Ouyen Complete

FRESH new upgrades to the Mallee Track Health and Community Service (MTHCS) Ouyen campus are in the final stages of completion. The work included replacing carpet in the main hallways, safely removing asbestos, removal of old tiles, prepping the space and installing new carpet and fresh paint.

Ouyen Keeps Deb Ball Tradition Alive

There was a focus on youth development and team building as young people from Ouyen held the region’s annual debutant ball. The tradition, dating back to the 1950s and overseen since 2005 by the Mallee Track Health and Community Service, brings the community together to welcome the debutants with a night of food, music and dancing.

Mallee Track Health and Community Services says its home care support will increase as changes take place in the sector. MTHCS services of delivered meals, social support groups, transport, nursing and allied health are staying the same in the Buloke Shire Council area.

Caring for each other as COVID surges

Staff and visitors to Mallee Track Health and Community Service aged and urgent care facilities are again required to wear a N95 mask, as local cases of COVID-19 increase. The measures have been put in place to help protect vulnerable members of the community and limit the impact on services.

Independent assessors have again backed the Mallee Track Health and Community Service, reapproving the organisation’s accreditation. Officials from HDAA recently spent a week visiting MTHCS to review its operations across the Mallee.

To help us do that our programs and activities are guided by the Montessori In Aged Care principles. Over the past year, staff have been busy completing training and preparing our residential facilities. We’re now at the next exciting stage of recruiting a Montessori Manager.

A golden visit to Sea Lake. All enjoyed cuddles with nurse Tamara’s Golden Retriever puppies on a recent visit to Sea Lake nursing home. Needless to say we all fell in love and even named one for ourselves “Bobby”.
